Topicus and open source community expand Kiota with Dart

Topicus, together with the open source community and Microsoft, has taken an important step in the expansion of Kiota, a powerful tool that helps with software development. Thanks to this collaboration, it is now possible for developers to automatically generate a Dart SDK (software development kit) for their applications. This makes it easier to build apps that are always up-to-date. Dart is the first programming language that has been added to Kiota entirely by the developer community and is now available to all Kiota users.

Work more efficiently with an automatically generated Dart SDK

Topicus is working on a new app for KeyHub, a platform that helps companies manage users and access. The app is being built with Dart, a modern programming language that is ideal for developing fast and responsive mobile apps. In order for the app to communicate efficiently with the backend (the servers and systems behind the app), a software development kit (SDK) is needed that automatically synchronizes with the KeyHub platform.

Microsoft Kiota was chosen to generate these SDKs. Kiota is an open source tool that makes it possible to automatically generate code that communicates with web services. This saves time and prevents errors. Kiota already supported several programming languages, but Dart was not yet available. This was changed by working together with the open source community and developing a solution that fully supports Dart. Dart allows developers to build fast and reliable apps for multiple devices from a single codebase, making development easier and faster.

Collaboration and innovation within the open source community

With the new Dart module, developers can now generate an SDK every time a new version of KeyHub is released. This not only saves time, but also makes the app more reliable, secure and easier to maintain. This means that users can count on an app that is always up-to-date and in sync.

Emond Papegaaij, KeyHub architect: “The development of the Dart module is a team effort that was not only done by the KeyHub team, but also in collaboration with the open source community and Microsoft. This is a great example of how collaboration and innovation within the open source community leads to success!”
