Topicus launches Brain Buddies: support for neurodivergent colleagues

At Topicus, we believe that everyone can reach their full potential when there's room for everyone's unique way of thinking and working. That's why Topicus launched the Brain Buddies initiative: colleagues who use their own experiences with neurodivergence to support others.
Working with ADHD, dyslexia, autism, high intelligence, or other neurodivergent traits can present challenges. How do you effectively organize your workday? What helps you concentrate? And how do you discuss your needs with your team? For these kinds of questions, Topicans can now turn to a Brain Buddy.
From need to initiative
The idea for Brain Buddies arose from the need for an accessible, confidential place to share experiences and exchange practical tips. While Topicus already had a buddy system for new employees, we now also have one for colleagues who face challenges due to their brain type.
Growing movement
The Brainbuddies network has grown rapidly. Several colleagues are now active as buddies, each bringing their own perspective and tips. "At a large organization like Topicus, you simply deal with a wide variety of people. From neurotypical to neurodivergent, and all with their own unique talents. If you can harness those talents, the entire organization benefits," says one of the buddies.
Openness and recognition
Many Brainbuddies have found that openness about neurodiversity helps make the topic more open to discussion. One says: "When I shared my story, many colleagues with similar experiences came to me. It makes a huge difference knowing you're not alone."
The conversations aren't always about solutions. Sometimes it's valuable just to find common ground, share experiences, and hear how others handle similar situations.
Room for every brain
The ultimate goal is clear: neurodiversity should be just as open to discussion as any other topic in the workplace. "Everyone, regardless of neurotype, has unique needs. The more room there is for that, the better we can work and grow together."
With initiatives like the Brain Buddies, we are building an inclusive work culture in which we see our differences as strengths.
