Devise Analytics – part of Topicus Care - launched its new service 'the S&B solution' last week after a lengthy pilot with seven ambulance services. With the S&B solution, Devise supports ambulance services in virtually all issues surrounding the 'Spread & Availability' of ambulances.

The healthcare landscape is constantly changing. This makes a good match between ambulance capacity and the demand for care an ongoing concern. If ambulance capacity does not sufficiently match the demand for care, this can lead to unnecessary ambulance movements through the region and long response times. This subsequently increases staff workload and depresses response time performance.

With the S&B solution, Devise provides continuous monitoring of the ambulance process and calculates the best distribution and availability of ambulances. They do this with smart optimisation models and algorithms that identify trends and breaks in the ambulance process. This is how Devise arrives at an optimal roster.

With the S&B solution, ambulance services know at all times how to optimally deploy available ambulance capacity to best match the demand for care. In addition, Devise calculates where additional ambulance capacity can best be deployed and which services have the least impact on performance in case of outages. A pilot with seven ambulance services as a starting point

The technology for Devise's solution has been developed through a variety of projects with and across multiple ambulance services in recent years. In addition, a pilot with seven ambulance services was launched in 2021 to make the application of the models and algorithms as compatible as possible with the diverse needs of ambulance services. The result is an accessible solution that supports ambulance services in almost all decisions around distribution and availability.
