Topicus X Equals role model campaign 2026

On International Women's Day, March 8, Equals is launching the fifth edition of its national role model campaign. Topcius is also participating in this 2026 edition with five role models.
What started in 2022 as an Amsterdam campaign has grown into a national movement with more than 800 role models. “This is not a campaign by Equals alone,” says Dieuwke van Buren, Managing Director, Equals. “This is a campaign by everyone who is convinced that this field of work is also for women. We are not competing with each other on this point. We have the same goal.”
Myrthe van er Molen, HR Director at Topicus: "As an IT company, we build solutions with social impact every day — and that requires different perspectives. Yet the proportion of women in IT in the Netherlands is only 18%, and this percentage is also relatively low at Topicus. This is not due to a lack of talent, but to various barriers, including visibility. Many women simply do not see a career in tech as realistic, precisely because female role models are scarce. Topicus believes in talent over labels and in equal access to opportunities. As long as women in tech are less visible and less easily reached, targeted action is needed. That is why we support the Equals campaign: by making women in tech visible as role models, we show that there is room to grow and make an impact. I think it's great to see our colleagues actively contributing to this by sharing their stories, and it underlines what we stand for at Topicus."
The absence of female role models actively discourages 40 percent of women from entering the tech sector (Kaspersky, Women in Tech report). Visibility reverses that. “You can't be what you can't see,” says Van Buren. By sharing these stories, from technology pioneers to daring entrepreneurs, the 2026 role model campaign on International Women's Day shows that women are here, and they are here to stay. Through the power of visibility.
