GPs can increasingly consult medical specialists via VIPLive

GPs in several regions of our country can consult an increasing number of different medical specialists securely online and seek advice on a patient. This is done through Topicus' regional platform VIPLive. This prevents unnecessary patient referrals.

Rosa Scherjon from Topicus: 'Besides the fact that more and more communication between GP practices and hospitals can be done via VIPLive through our Consult module, we also see that within hospitals, more and more departments (specialisms within hospitals, etc.) want to be connected. Digital consultation is efficient for primary and secondary care providers, but also for patients. Not everyone has to go to hospital anymore, because with digital advice from the specialist, the GP can continue to treat their patient properly. This saves time and patient stress, especially during this corona crisis, when people prefer to travel only if necessary.’

Currently affiliated GPs in South Holland and the northern provinces can already collaborate with 15 hospitals. This map shows which hospitals with how many different professional groups are currently connected. In total, almost one hundred professional groups already provide advice to GPs via VIPLive, increasingly saving time for healthcare providers and avoiding unnecessary hospital visits by patients.
