Dirk Jan Timmer, director Topicus' education division: ‘Our customers expressed the need for an education catalogue for user-friendly set-up, management, and presentation of the individual components and modules of a course. We already provide Eduarte, ParnasSys and Somtoday, three pupil and student information systems for (secondary) vocational, primary, and secondary education respectively. With FirstKlas, the market-leading course management system for secondary vocational education is added. This makes it easier for teachers to manage and organise educational programmes and offers students more flexibility and freedom of choice in their learning pathways. This is a broadening of our market position, which fits logically with our core expertise. With this, we expect to boost the mbo in the field of flexible and modular education.’

Senet director Theo Bieger echoes Timmer: ‘The combination of FirstKlas and Topicus strengthens the offering in the mbo market. It further professionalises and expands the link with Eduarte. We are convinced that we can contribute even better to the objectives of the mbo. The basic assumption is that the acquisition of the activities of FirstKlas will not affect the continuity of services to our customers. The employees involved will continue to operate from the Eindhoven location."
